The Cologne University of Catholic Theology is a research location that cultivates international cooperation. Research at KHKT covers the entire spectrum of theology. To this end, the KHKT performs the intra-scientific, social and ecclesiastical functions of theology as a science. In terms of principles and methods, it is based on the interdisciplinary range of theology and strives for innovative, self-responsible and creative learning and teaching. The professors and lecturers are involved in international research projects and publish in leading journals. The university also regularly offers meetings and conferences, which enable an interdisciplinary discussion of theological and social issues.

Partners include the Pontificia Università Lateranense in Rome, the Universidad Pontificia de México and the Albertus Magnus Institute in Bonn.
